Transformers: Dark of the moon 3D

Transformers: Dark of the Moon(3D)

Cast :- Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Running time :- 2 hours 30 minutes

First question first. If you have seen the earlier Transformers movies, what do you expect from this one? I saw the first movie in chennai in single screen theater, second one yesterday only in home so that I can understand a bit of third one. My expectations from a transformers movie are:-

1. A young boy who will keep running in the movie from decepticons (bad robots) and in the end do something which will help the autobots (good robots) to save the earth.
2. A model young girl who will keep running with the boy to lure the audience with her beauty and basically being as an eye-candy only.
3. Loads of steel machines fighting with each other, destroying the cities and converting from machine to vehicles numerous no. of times.
4. A bit of emotional scenes between machines and our hero.
5. And the most important of all, a wafer thin plot or can say no plot at all. Just a reason so that they can fight with each other is all they require.

I believe if they want, they can create thousands of transformers movies in this line. Even if they repeat the fight sequences, most of us will never be able to identify them. The main question is if I am not a tranformers movie fan, then why did I watch this movie. The only reason was that this movie is in 3D and I wanted to see my first movie in 3D which should have scope of lots of special effects that I can not find in movies like Kungfu Panda or Cars2. And however bad may be the story line of Transformers, they are still considered as the best in terms of special effects.

As I have never seen a 3D before so I was not having much expectations and anyone should not have too with this movie. In the start it looks different with heavy 3D glasses on but slowly it all started to look normal except for the some sequences where depth is involved.

The plot if you call it a plot, starts with the crash landing of a UFO on the moon which was hidden from the world for unknown reasons when USA and later on other countries reached moon. When autobots came to know about this, they reach moon with the help of humans and bring their old leader Sentinel prime from the moon and make him alive with the matrix which optimus has got in second part. Sentinel told them there are hundreds of pillars which are missing from space craft which have power of teleporting any thing.

Autobots get involved in a fight with decepticons to save sentinel prime and then sentinel prime change sides and become ally with decepticons to bring their planet Cybertron to earth. From here onwards again a fight begins to save the earth as it was there in earlier movies.

Shia LaBeouf as Sam has the same role of finding some thing that can prove him to be a hero and save the world. Her GF is  Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in place of Megan Fox in this movie but has the same role of looking attractive and running and screaming. Everything is same even the length of movie which is exactly 2 and half hours. As 3D is being used in this movie so some un necessary extended sequences are there for 3D purpose only. Like soldiers flying in the air for about 5 minutes, reason best known to the director. I believe it was to show the depth only. There are some impressive 3D scenes too like showing the depth in Space craft and people hanging at the time of collapse of building, bumblebee catching Sam in a fight sequence when running to save Sentinel prime. However the catching practice is repeated multiple number of times in the movie :).

Go and watch the movie if you are still a transformes movie fan even after transformers 2. You are not going to miss anything and will enjoy it. But I will say an interval is necessary in a movie of such length which was not provided to us in SPICE cinemas Noida. The reason may be that we may run away with the 3D glasses:). But you will get enough moments to get out of hall and take interval of your own when ever emotional scenes begin as they are bit stretched.
