X-MEN First Class - Lengthier but not better

X-MEN First Class
Cast:- James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon
Running time:- 2hrs 12 minutes

As originally planned when we went to watch Bheja Fry 2, we were able to see X-men movie at last. As I am not that much good in english, I was willing to watch it in Hindi only and some how I and chiranjit managed to reach cinema hall till 10:45 AM to watch it. As expected in the morning, that too in a not so popular mall, in a movie 3 weeks old and finally our generation obsessed with watching english movie only in english, there were only 10 people in the hall.
We were not sure before the start of the movie that whether they will run the show or not but in the end the show started.

Certainly this movie is the lengthiest movie of X-men series along with X-men 2 or X2 and you may feel this in the movie too. This movie should be the first movie of all the X-men movie which shows how the X-men were called X-men, showing the relationship between Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto. Evolution of Beast and Mystique and some other side kicks which I dont remember to see in earlier movies.

The movie is basically a hunt of Eric(Magneto) for Sebastian Shaw a mutant who killed his mother in front of his eyes as Eric was not able to show his power in his young age. Sebastian wants to start 3rd world war between USA and Russia and want to make mutant community to rule the world. He has his own associate mutants with him like emma frost and azazel. Charles Xavier tried to stop them but not able to succeed, similarly Eric tried to kill Sebastian but failed. Charles and Eric become friends to fight against Shaw. Mystique or Raven is with Charles from childhood. She dont like her blue body and remain in disguise. They meet Dr. Henry who is a scientist and also a mutant with big feet. They create their team of mutants. Shaw attack CIA HQ in absence of charles and Eric and take away a mutant Angel with them killing Edwards an other mutant.

After that story is of training of these teenage mutants and fighting with Shaw and separation of Eric and Charles on the point of partiality by humans with them and thus 2 teams get created which has been shown in earlier X-men movies.

Movie seemed to be bit lengthier and stretched. It could have been atleast 15-20 mins shorter. Side kicks mutants do not impress much. Their fighting scenes with each other dilutes the climax sequence which is not so extra ordinary even. James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier is the best among all the actors or it can be said he is the main hero and is present in most of the frames. Michael Fassbender as Eric is impressive too. There are not much expression from his side as he has been shown either silent or in anger but the role demands this thing only. All the side kicks including Mystique and Beast are just average. They dont impress too much by their acting skills. Plot is quite predictable as this was a prequel and climax could have been much better if more action  would have been there between the major actors rather than side ones.

It is not a bad movie for X-Men fans but still they will feel they have seen better X-men movies than this. It is more like a bollywood movie where 2 brothers choose different paths having different mindsets like Naam starring Kumar Gaurav and Sanjay Dutt :). It was just a reference. There is no copyright issue here :)).

Watch this movie if you are really Big X-Men fan otherwise wait for its premier on any hollywood channel..

Love You All
